Adiponectin, the New Fat Burning Hormone on the Block

Move over leptin…  adiponectin is the newest fat-produced hormone getting serious scientific attention. It appears to play a key role in the biology of how humans burn fat.  And more importantly, it could help us actually burn fat more effectively by turning fat into energy.

According to Dr. Leo Galland, of all the adipokines (hormones produced by fat cells), “adiponectin seems to be the most heroic.”

This is because recent studies show that adiponectin reduces appetite and triggers the burning of fat.  However, unlike Leptin, overweight people don’t suffer resistance to adiponectin.  This is why increasing Leptin is not an effective weight loss strategy.

With adiponectin, people have an outright deficiency.  A deficiency in adiponectin makes it almost impossible to melt fat and stay thin. This is because you need adiponectin to turn fat into energy.  More specifically, adiponectin helps the body use fat to fuel muscle cells.

So you can see why a lack of adiponectin would make it hard to burn off the pounds, and research shows that the level of the adiponectin is inversely correlated with adiposity/body fat percentage in adults.

Sadly for most overweight people, as fat stores increase, adiponectin levels drop and the burning of fat as fuel becomes less efficient.  So we get fatter and fatter.  However, scientists have been working furiously for safe ways to increase adiponectin and have seen some results.

It turns out that intermittent fasting can increase adiponectin levels, as can getting more sleep.  And recently, a new compound was created using a blend of two rare Ayurvedic plants, Piper betle and Dolichos biflorus.

This specific extract was able to increase adiponectin levels in human subjects by 15.3% compared to placebo.  Not too shabby.  And more importantly, over an 8 week period subjects using this extract were able to lose 245% more weight than a placebo group not using the extract (this is more than twice as much weight lost).

This is very exciting news.  You can find this extract at the proper dose in Real Dose Nutritionals’ Weight Loss Formula No. 1.

Thanks for your interest. Regarding my credentials, feel free to check with Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and the California State Medical Board. Sincerely, Dr. Steve

hi will you tell me green coffee is better than green tea why i cant burn my fats thank you

      • Dr. Steve says:

        Hi Erkan,
Green coffee and green tea are both high in antioxidants and helpful with weightloss. Green coffee is extremely rich in chlorogenic acid. Chlorogenic acid is a powerful antioxidant that will rid your body of free radicals and promote good health. Consumption of green coffee and the associated chlorogenic acid offers some positive health benefits. The best way to burn fats is through a diet low in saturated fats, and focusing on vegetables and lean proteins and high intensity exercise.

The Adiponectin Supplement deserves added attention as a substance that dieters may use to regulate their digestive system. It truly is employed as an successful aid in weight-loss. Although it can support with diminishing cravings, its use is also linked to mammary carcinogenesis.

    • Dr. Steve says:

Hi Nona, I completely understand your concern. Weightloss Formula No. 1 does not contain adiponectin. Adiponectin is a hormone that modulates a number of metabolic processes, including glucose regulation and fatty acid catabolism. Adiponectin is exclusively secreted from adipose tissue (fat) (and also from the placenta in pregnancy) into the bloodstream and is very abundant in plasma relative to many hormones. Levels of the hormone are inversely correlated with body fat percentage in adults. Our product can, however help to regulate adiponectin and enhance weightloss.

I have seen alot of articles lately about adiponectin and it’s correlation to bone mass, alzheimers, cancer, etc… and while we know if you have too much fat you have low adiponectin levels and if you are too thin, you have raised adiponectin levels. The correlation between adiponectin and breast cancer or other illnesses, is still unclear.

To put things into perspective the best way to maintain regular adiponectin levels is to maintain a healthy body weight. You can maintain a healthy weight by eating a balanced nutritious diet and getting plenty of exercise. As a vital part of your bone health, exercise helps in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis by increasing your bone density. An exercise regimen strong in weight training stimulates bone formation while making your bones stronger and denser. Hence, the more you use your bones, the stronger they become.

Thank you Dr. Steve for clarifying. The supplement helps in increasing the natural adiponectin levels in the body, especially in those who have difficulty managing their weight, thus helping them achieve/ maintain optimal weight. And it should in fact be part of a holistic healthy lifestyle including wholesome diet and physical fitness routine which is always the best and lasting way. So, using this supplement is not in anyway can be compared to one being administered the hormone directly as a weightless aid – which probably these articles are referring to..?

Are there any drug interactions one needs to be careful about while using Naturethroid and Realdose Weightloss formula?

        Many thanks again Dr. Steve.

        Tina

  3. Jennifer says:

    Hi Dr. Steve,

I have been a fat free vegan for 7 years. Even after my first pregnancy and child, I easily lost the weight and got back to being thin and lean.

However, after my second pregnancy and child, almost immediately, my body changed in a million ways. I couldn’t lose weight, my digestion was different, and, I just didn’t feel at all right.

I have been struggling with my weight ever since, despite my staying a fat free vegan. I eat so many vegetables, I have limited my calories to 850 a day, I have exercised like crazy, and, have tried everything but have not been able to budge my weight.

Is it possible that my delivery of my baby somehow depleted my Adiponectin supply?

    Thanks for your help!

    • Dr. Steve says:

Hi Jennifer – Thanks for your comment. I would definitely say your diet might be a little to restrictive. First, you definitely want to incorporate a little fat into your diet. Healthy fats like those from walnut, olive oil and avocado actually support your metabolism and will help your body burn fat. Being a vegan is great, but you must understand that it comes with nutritional responsibility, as your diet can easily leave you deficient in Iron, protein, calcium, vitamin d and vitamin B12.
My recommendations would be to raise your calories to 1500, possibly supplement some of the above nutrients (you may already be depleted) and change up your exercise habits to something new. If you’re currently doing lots of cardio, switch and begin weight training. If you currently do high intensity exercise, start doing low resistance aerobic activity.
I hope all this helps and I don’t want to discourage you at all from being such a great advocate for your health. Make sure to update me and let us know how you’re doing!

if real dose form1 does what you say then why is your diet so strict.the diet alone would make you lose the weight.

    • Dr. Steve says:

Hi Theodore – I completely understand your concerns.
To answer your question , we always recommend making healthy lifestyle changes to all of our customers. All of the suggestions we’ve given you are to help you become a healthier, happier person – not just see the number on your scale go down.

Keep in mind, most people gain weight from years of eating foods that are full of chemicals, pesticides, and preservatives, as well as making poor food choices. It’s not only much how MUCH people eat that makes them gain weight, but what and when they are eating also causes weight gain. All of this leads to hormonal imbalances.

Supplements can help you get back on the right track, however without making a lifetime commitment to proper nutrition and exercise, most people will gain their weight back as soon as they stop taking a supplement. Temporary fixes, lead to temporary weight loss.

We believe if we can help you adopt the proper eating, exercise and healthy lifestyle habits, that in the long run, supplementation may not be required. This is why we include information about these topics in our Fatloss Fast Start Program, and in our follow up email communications. We want you to succeed !

  6. Murray says:

    Dr. Sisskind:
I need to lose belly fat. I know about the importance of Adiponectin. A company in Japan claims they have made a supplement that actually stimulates the production of Adiponectin in the body. Adiponectin cannot be absorbed in the body if taken orally so they have made a product/supplement, all natural that has real test results. The mfr will not answer any of my e-mails,faxes,etc. Are you interested in pursuing this as a product for your online business? If so I have the company info I can forward to you. It looks very interesting and just might be the answer.

    • Hi Murray – Thank you for writing in. We’ve gotten several emails about this company in the past. All I can say is RealDose Weight Loss Formula is formulated to increase fat burning, curb appetite, relieves stress and boosts mood and contains 2 Ingredients Each Clinically Proven to More Than Double Weight Loss vs. Diet And Exercise Alone.

    Dr, Sisskind

What is your field of study? another question I have is this, In 2007 I was Dx with PMR and GCA, I was put on an extremely high dose of steroids and I put on 50+ pounds. I also had to have stents in my heart in 2007. The steroids have not only caused me to gain weight, but now I have several “fatty tumors”. I exercise at least 5 days a week, but my appetite is still ravenous. I am now off of all steroids, but the weight and appetite is still a major problem, will REALDOSE work for me, since my weight gain is due to medication?

    • Hi Bev,

Thank you for sharing your concerns with us! I am a practicing MD and currently, Chief Medical Officer of RealDose Nutrition. Suffering from Polymyalgia Rheumatica is not easy, compound that with Giant Cell Arteritis and you must be in constant pain. I hope you are feeling a lot better as you have been weaned off of your steroid medication. It would be easy for me to say that RealDose could help you lose the weight, but, your well being and good health is of the utmost importance at this moment. Though we have formulated RealDose Weight Loss Formula No.1 to be safe and well tolerated when taken with other medications, it is the stents you have that worries me. I would strongly advise you to consult with your personal doctor, ask him about your current health condition and would it be alright for you to take RealDose Weight Loss Formula No.1. When he gives you to go signal, send me another email and I will help you get started to your journey to better health! Have a healthy day!
